Southdade music

South Dade Music is a music education studio whose reputation rests on the quality of its teaching. Its website didn't reflect that. We redesigned it as a calm, cinematic site built around editorial typography, a restrained ivory and charcoal palette and warm gold accents, so the first impression matches the standard of the instruction. The result is a site that reads as a serious institution rath

The challenge

Music school websites tend to look the same: bright primary colors, stock photos of smiling children, a wall of text explaining every program at once. That look undersells a studio whose students and families are choosing it for craft and long-term progress. The existing site had two problems. Visually, it sat in that generic category and gave a parent no reason to believe this studio differed from any other. Structurally, the programs were hard to navigate, so a parent trying to work out which one suited their child had to piece it together across several pages.

Our approach

We started with the architecture, mapping the programs and rebuilding the navigation so a visitor can find the right one in a single step rather than reading everything. The design direction is deliberately mature: generous whitespace, editorial type at display sizes, deep charcoal against ivory, and gold used sparingly for emphasis. Nothing decorative that doesn't carry meaning. Each program has its own page with a clear picture of who it's for, what a lesson looks like and how a student progresses, ending in a single obvious next step rather than a scattering of links. Motion is used carefully, with sections settling into place as you scroll and an unhurried opening sequence, held to a pace that feels composed rather than busy. The build respects reduced-motion settings for anyone who prefers stillness. The site was built in Next.js and taken through a full pass for responsive layout, accessibility and loading speed, then deployed to a private review environment hidden from search engines while the client reviews it.
